Our Story

Kaleb's Story

The first time I met Leah was the summer we worked together at Camp Chetek. We did not get along often we had so amazing adventures that pushed us to our limits and God used us. We then proceeded to go to Maranatha Baptist Bible College to pursue an education. Leah and I spent about an hour total talking that school year.

That next summer I stayed at Maranatha to work on campus as lawns crew and I also started working at Higgins auto. Leah and I started hanging out that summer because we knew each and we had so much spare time. I say that jokingly. That summer I asked Scott Nagel, Leah’s father if we could date, to this day I still think he said sure.

That fall Leah started up nursing school again and for the last year. We continued dating and grew fiercely fond of each other every day. We had great times together and I did watch a lot of TV. With Leah’s roommate Leanna, it is her fault why I now am addicted to Guys with kids and Hogan’s Heroes.

This reminds me of a very funny story. So I had just bought my truck and my boss wanted a ford bronco; Leah’s Brother , Scottie had one, so we went up north to go haul it down on a trailer. Going up there I missed our road and we ended up on a dirt/mud road, pulling a trailer with my new truck. Well we made it through that so we figured we had the trip in the bag. We were returning home that Sunday. On the way home near Stevens Point my check fuel gauge light came on, I knew as a mechanic I have less than twenty miles, it ended up being more like four miles. We met some amazing people who picked us up and took us to the gas station and back to the truck. Leah than insisted that we immediately fill the truck; with my pride abolished I did so. Well after the truck was filled we continued on our journey and as soon as we knew it the trailer blew a tire. Now remember this is a Sunday afternoon drive. Four hours, twenty calls, and six tire stores later no one has a tire. Well we made it back eventually and we are still getting married so we should do well.

We went to each others’ families for the holiday, Leah’s families presents barely fit into my truck. She graduated College with many achievements accomplished in her college career. That summer Leah got a job in Watertown at the local hospital and I was working full time as a technician at Higgins Auto. Than that next fall I finally asked Scott if I could marry his daughter after I let him beat me in golf. Yeah I think I hit grass more than ball but I like my version better. He most definitely said yes that time. I than later found out after we got back home Scott tells Leah I had asked him if we could wed. That whole fall goes by and we discussed that we should probably wait till after winter to get engaged.

It was Christmas time and I had bought Leah an IPod Touch and a Camera for Christmas. She had no idea that I had gone out and bought the bling. She was supposed to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day the night-shift. Well she got low census and wanted to head to her parents home early as a surprise. So I got off work at 3:00 p.m. and we packed the truck full of Christmas presents. I had told her that I had left my glasses at my house. This is the house that Leah and I will be moving into when were married. So I had done some painting, okay one wall. So I wanted to show her that as well. She was sitting on the bed as we were discussing that this house was a very nice house and that we could not wait till we could get married. At that time I told Leah I had to confess an awful lie had been keeping from her. I was kneeling by the bed, with my head in her lap trying to reach for that tiny size 9 ring in my jean pocket without trying to give it away. I than manage to pull the stupid thing out of my pocket but I than dropped it on the floor. I’m searching for this ring on the floor while not trying to give it away. I than found it and pulled it up and said “I did get my overtime paycheck. Will you spend the rest of our lives together?” than I look at the ring and it is covered in jean lint. I quickly wiped it off and she went crazy and said “Yes!!!”. And now we are getting married.  PLEASE DO COME!!!
